Welcome to the Municipality of Clare, Nova Scotia’s French Acadian Shore! Situated on the scenic shores of Saint Mary’s Bay (Baie Sainte-Marie) in Southwest Nova Scotia, the Municipality of Clare is home to the largest Acadian community in Nova Scotia. Clare is where the preserved traditions of the past intersect with the eclectic youth of tomorrow.

The region is renowned for its vibrant joie de vivre and is home to the oldest Acadian festival in the world, Festival acadien de Clare, as well as the host for the newest cycling experience, the Gran Fondo Baie Sainte-Marie.

The area is also well-known for the immensely popular Musique de la Baie kitchen parties and Les Beaux Vendredis lobster suppers. The Clare Visitor Information Centre (VIC), located in the Rendez-vous de la Baie Visitor Centre, is operated by knowledgeable staff from May to October. In 2018, Clare celebrated and commemorated the 250th anniversary of the arrival of the first Acadian family in Clare, Joseph & Marie Dugas.
